Several small framed decorative prints can be seen on the living room walls of the I Love Lucy set. A set of cavalry sword men appear on the wall next to the fireplace and also on the back wall on either side of the larger Utrillo picture.
These prints framed by Borghese are not identical to those pictured in the screen grab above but they are from the same series of cavalry prints derived from an antique publication of broad sword exercises by Thomas Stephens.
The original vintage print reproduction of a 1922 Maurice Utrillo lithograph is offered on eBay this week. I have only seen a few of these on offer since I started this blog so we may not see another like it for some time.
On the wall in the Ricardo’s room in Lucerne there is a framed Medieval print from the Codex_Manesse of Walther von Klingen
Walther von Klingen AKA: “Count Walter III of Altenklingen”
Birthdate: circa 1220
Birthplace: Altenklingen, Thurgau, Switzerland
Death: Died March 1, 1286 in Altenklingen, Thurgau, Switzerland
He was a Minstrel and author of songs in the Codex. The Codex Manesse, is a medieval songbook, the single most comprehensive source of Middle High German Minnesang poetry, written and illustrated between ca. 1304 when the main part was completed, and ca. 1340 with the addenda. The codex was produced in Zürich, for the Manesse family.
The manuscript is “the most beautifully illumined German manuscript in centuries;” its 137 miniatures are a series of “portraits” depicting each poet. ( Source Wikipedia)
The woman dancing in the painting is Marie Anne de Cupis de Camargo a famous French/Belgian ballet dancer known as La Camargo. She was first woman to execute the entrechat quatre, the first dancer to wear slippers instead of heeled shoes, and also first to wear the shorter calf-length ballet skirt and the now standard ballet tights.
Vintage prints of the 1922 Utrillo picture seen on I Love Lucy seem to be quite rare. There is one on offer online CLICK HERE to see it – still available as of Oct 9 2015 – I don’t know the size.
Seen on eBay this week are two Utrillo prints similar to the one on I Love lucy – although a slightly different version – Utrillo painted this scene several times. Also a mid-century ornate frame below to recreate the look of the one on the show. The exact print in I Love Lucy is hard to find. Click on the images to view the eBay listings.
Above is a Hollywood Regency frame in a similar style to the one on the show that should fit the above prints – its on ebay this week Click Here to view
This is a very well known Utrillo print that is easily recognized by fans of I Love Lucy. It is seen on the wall of the living room set in so many episodes. Original vintage prints from the era are rare – this one is a copy of a vintage print – Click here for more details on the eBay listing

On eBay this week I see a set of vintage framed fashion prints similar to those seen on I Love Lucy, from a very knowledgeable ebay seller and collector. The exact frames like these dont show up very often. The oval gilt framed fashion prints were seen on the mantelpiece on either side of the toleware clock in the early episodes. Following the Ricardo’s move to the bigger apartment they could be seen in the window alcove above the piano.
