When Lucy and Ricky Ricardo of the very popular I Love Lucy television show produced “most famous baby in the world” the perfect tie in was a baby doll.
Before the birth episode was even aired the very first version was in stores and called the “I Love Lucy Baby” made by the American Character Doll Company, and launched in time for the Christmas market. After the birth the Ricky Jr. Doll appeared. There was range of accessories including a doll carriage and elaborate baby bath as you can see in the original ad below.
