Another find this week is a gilt carved frame that is reminiscent of the oval mirror on Lucy Ricardo’s mantel:
Its not an exact match but would look the part with an oval mirror insert. Click picture above for the eBay listing.
Gilt Mirror on the Mantel – I Love Lucy
An ornate gilt standing mirror is often seen on the mantel in the I Love Lucy living room. The easel mirror has a gilt finished scrolled style similar to the one below. The mirror is occasionally used as a prop when Lucy checks her out her new hat etc. In an early episode a different mirror was used when Lucy tried ro read the imprint of note Ricky had written.
This mirror is larger than the one on the show but in a similar style.

The mirror Lucy is using above in the screenshot from an early episode is a Victorian style Bacchus mirror with easel stand. The cast metal figural Bacchus mirror is usually found with its original beveled mirror but not always with an easel stand. See pictures of one below with a stand like the one on the show. I have seen versions signed Emil Blaesius who may have been the original designer. The one pictured below is by Bradley & Hubbard marked B&H.
