The I Love Lucy Episode Ethel’s Birthday opens with a scene in which Lucy is tidying away Ricky Jr’s ABC blocks.
The blocks are seen with their original box on the show identifying them as Halsam Hi-Lo Safety Blocks with interlocking ridges. These were called safety blocks because the corners were rounded. The striped ridges slot together for stacking using a patented design that interlocked the blocks together for a more stable construction.
