This is a print of the very famous art work by Degas, The Star – of a star dancer on stage. It is usually seen from the I Love Lucy living room set in the passageway to the bedroom. Lucy and Desi will have stood before this image many times while waiting for their cue to enter the living room set.

Lucy and Ricky’s Landscape Art Print
Here we refer to a framed print seen above the mantelpiece in the screen capture from the episode “Ricardos Change Apartments” in which Lucy tries to convince Ricky to let them move to a bigger apartment. This is a busy folk art print that seems to add to the effect Lucy creates when she fills the room with stuff to convince Ricky their apartment is too small. At first glance the picture resembles a paint by numbers creation. this is because the artist Margo Alexander was known for her gouache paintings in the style of a tapestry.

Margo Alexander’s original medium was gouache painted in a flat tapestry like finish as seen in her colorful farm scenes and country landscapes. Lucy’s Cosy Ribbed Knit Hat
This is Lucille Ball as Lucy Ricardo wearing a cute ribbed knit alice band hat in a scene from an I Love Lucy episode on the Newport home set. I am not offering a knitting pattern at present but it looks very easy to knit in a simple rib stitch with contrast stripe border.
You need:
- A couple of balls of double knit yarn for the main color
- Contrasting yarn in two colors for the stripes.

Lucy’s Bedroom Figurines
Lucy and Ricky’s bedroom figurines can be seen on the shelf above the beds in most of the bedroom scenes. The pair below are a match for one of the pairs of colonial style figurines that are easy to spot in many of the dialog scenes.
In the occupied Japan period such figurines were imported in large numbers and found their way into homes throughout the country. The I Love Lucy set reflects this trend at a time when cheap imports were beginning to impact local industry, with inexpensive imported knick knacks seen on the set, alongside US made decor items ,often local California pottery, usually the heavier items.

Ricky Jr’s Nursery Decor
The “Most famous nursery in the world” was a showcase of the latest in nursery style. TV Viewers could buy the same items in stores and decorate their own nursery with Mother Goose Pin-ups from the Dolly Toy Company
The cute nursery wall pin-up pictures are the 50’s version of today’s wall art stickers, but they have a retro charm that would not be out of place in any modern nursery or kids playroom.

Lucy and Desi’s Spice Rack
In this publicity shot of Lucy and Desi Arnaz at home in the kitchen there is a 12 piece Griffith spice set in a metal rack.
I see a similar Griffith spice set on eBay this week There are several sets of vintage Griffith spice sets on eBay at present but not many in the metal rack. The racks are also found in other materials. These are very collectible milk glass spice sets that can be found in very good condition. They were made and distributed by Griffith Laboratories Inc., Chicago, Illinois, from the 1930’s – 1950’s. Click here to see similar Griffith spice racks on eBay.

Lucy’s Pyrex Mixing Bowls were a nesting set in bright colors which we only see in grayscale on the show, but we can see the original colors in the original vintage sets that are still available for collectors. See this set on eBay today:

Vintage borosilicate Pryex dishes made by Corning are more heat resistant and shatter proof than present day products bearing the Pyrex label which are made from inferior glass. However they have to be more than 25 years old to be sure they are indeed Corning dishes. (Read more at http://www.snopes.com/food/warnings/pyrex.asp)

Lucy’s Westinghouse Commander Super-Corox Range
Here we are looking at two different models of the Westinghouse Commander Range seen on the show.
A 1954 Westinghouse Commander Stove Model was seen on a later season of I Love Lucy, it looks similar to the 1950 model but the controls have a different layout.
