Lucy Ricardo’s Ivy Dishes were from the Franciscan ” Ivy” range of dinner ware from from California-based Gladding, McBean, & Co, The Franciscan dinnerware range came into production in 1948 so it was only a few years on the market when “I Love Lucy” series began with the first episode on June 15, 1951.
Search for Fransciscan Ivy on ebay to see examples. Lucy had the dinner service including salt and pepper shakers, butter dish and tea set with teapot. You can see the Ivy set in use throughout the series and if you look closely at the kitchen props you will notice the ivy theme is continued in other kitchen products such as a coffee grinder and wall mounted salad set The Franciscan range is now produced in England but if you want the original American version of Ivy you will have to look for the vintage pieces which were made from 1948 – 1983 and is more popular for the collectors looking for the same dishes that appeared on television programs such as the “I Love Lucy Show” and “The Donna Reed Show
The Franciscan Ivy dinner set reappears in the movie “Forever Darling” 1956, Starring Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz.
