Lucy and Desi are frequently seen using their Franciscan Ivy dining set. In the opening scene of “The Freezer” episode Lucy apparently uses the light colored shaker to sprinkle fine sugar on her breakfast grapefruit. The ivy leaf shaped salt and pepper shaker set are easy to spot. The Franciscan Ivy pieces can still be found. The shaker set pictured below is currently on eBay

Lucy’s Kitchen Apothecary Jars
In the above capture from I Love Lucy Season 1, Episode 4 “Lucy Thinks Ricky Is Trying to Murder Her” we see two porcelain apothecary jars on the kitchen shelf. The apothecary jars appear in several episodes as set dressing in the kitchen in various locations. I have not found an exact match for the jars on the show but similar ones are seen on ebay such as the example below.

Tip for a DIY Lucy style cruet
If you like to paint its easy to mock up your own version of the “I Love Lucy” cruet.
Search eBay for a “Rooster cruet” like the one in the picture above Seen HERE . You will notice the back is blank. so you can paint your own ivy design like the I Love lucy one. You will need acrylic paint, green and yellow for the leaves (there is a touch of yellow at the tips of the leaves), and brown for the branches and some brushes including a fine one to do the fine lines. Use the picture of an original Thompson cruet below for inspiration.

Lucy’s Superlon Salt & Pepper Shaker Set
Lucy’s kitchen had several salt and pepper shaker sets, usually they were on the large side up to 4″ or more which made them easier to spot on set. This time we are looking at a more average sized 3 piece plastic salt and pepper shaker set marked Superlon Product Chicago IL USA on the base of the holder. In the screen capture above they are next to the Plas-tex set we looked at previously.
The Long Long Trailer: Lucy’s Guardian Service Cookware
In the 1953 movie The Long Long Trailer starring Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz we see a set of Guardian Service Cookware on display in the kitchen area of their New Moon Trailer.
Currently there is a seller on eBay offering what is claimed to be the original Guardian Service Ware from the movie which was apparently given to Lucille Ball when the production ended for use in her home.

Lucy’s Griddle
Lucy is learning to flip hotcakes with her aluminum griddle. Her griddle is flat aluminum with a curved handle similar to this vintage griddle I saw on eBay today – pictured below. Another similar brand to look for is Wear-ever who are still in business today.
Also pictured above on Lucy’s stove we see a white enamel saucepan. This saucepan has vertical sides and a slim handle which helps narrow down the search. The only close example I found on eBay today was the unused 1940’s Leader brand enamel saucepan pictured below still with its original label -Click on the pictures below to see the listings.

Lucy’s Aluminum Double Boiler
Lucy is occasionally seen using her aluminum double boiler, but perhaps most famously when she heats up a potion to use on Ricky’s hair in the hilarious scene from which the above captures are taken.
Lucy’s double boiler has a distinctive shape that widens at the base which helps narrow down the possible makers when searching for a vintage one like it. A good match is this vintage Comet double boiler seen on ebay today.
A double boiler is really two saucepans – a smaller one fits above the base pan below. The base saucepan is used to hold simmering hot water which should not touch the bottom of the top pan so that the steam creates a gentle heat without burning. It is used when you don’t want direct heat under the item you are cooking, such as when making certain custards or sauces, melting chocolate etc.
Bread box on Etsy
I spotted this breadbox on Etsy – CLICK HERE to see it. It looks like the Nesco breadbox on I Love Lucy except the decal is different. See my earlier post about the breadbox I repainted to look like Lucy’s.
Update:
The breadbox pictured above has been sold – here is another one still for sale:

Lucy’s Cardinal China Salt & Pepper Shakers
Peter is back again ( thanks Pete!) with a great ID for the Asian boy and girl salt and pepper shakers seen in the Ricardo’s Kitchen: “Here is some information about the oriental style salt & pepper shakers. They were distributed by the Cardinal China Company which began in 1946 as the Carteret China Company, at Carteret, New Jersey, where they remained in operation until the 1960s. Cardinal China were distributors who added their own mark to products made by manufacturers such as American Bisque Co and possibly Shawnee Pottery. They were known as the first US company to produce a spoon rest.
These salt & pepper shakers were part of their Kitchen Companion line that also included a laundry sprinkler named “Sprinkle Plenty”, a measuring holder called “#1 Measure Boy” as well as a potted plant that held measuring spoons and a spoon rest shaped like a flower. Only the salt & pepper set were used on I Love Lucy and are often found on the side wall kitchen shelving. The other pieces to the set can easily be found however the salt & pepper are hard to come by”

Lucy’s Brass Pitchers
A set of English brass pitchers are seen on the kitchen shelf on the I Love Lucy set. I was able to grab a screen capture showing enough detail to identify the patterns seen above. the larger pitcher about 8″ tall shows a seated man in a pub scene, and the smaller jug at 6 3/4″ tall has a nautical theme with a ship and lighthouse. There were two of the smaller jugs and one large jug on the kitchen shelf. See examples I found pictured below. They are made by Peerage Brass and are easily found on the secondary market often at low prices. Lucy’s pitchers are seen on the show from early in the series and later in the Newport house they are on the mantel along with matching plates.
