Seen on eBay this week is what is claimed to be an I Love Lucy Prop Camera – vintage Spartus Full-Vue Box Camera circa 1949. I don’t know which episode this was used in but according to the description the Brand name was covered with tape for use on set. Click on the picture above to see the full details on eBay.
Unfortunately, this seller (along with a few others) on Ebay always seems to be selling vintage props directly from “I Love Lucy” and while the descriptions always look legitimate, they never can tell us what episode or come close to showing a screen grab of the prop in use. True provenance other than a good ‘story’ is hard to come by, but these props are always from Emily Daniels, who was married to the show’s first director, Marc Daniels. Emily was a film camera coordinator on the show, but they both left the series early in the 2nd season. Not sure why Emily Daniels would have so many props stored away from a hit show that still used these props. Apologies if I am wrong, but it just does not seem logical.
